Become an active citizen

When Abraham Lincoln closed the Gettysburg Address with his powerful words “…that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth,” he gave every American citizen a mandate to be an active participant in our own government.

Our elections provide us the power of choice of our leaders, but once elected, our collective ability to influence them diminishes. Our individual voices are drowned out by powerful special interests who are better organized and know ‘how to work the system’. The American people need more effective tools to affect the status quo with changes that better represent their collective will.

How will we build consensus among a large number of Americans on issues that seem to perpetually divide us? We’ll first need set our individual party affiliations aside to understand each issue from both sides. We’ll need to dig deeper than ‘sound bites’ and accusations. Public policy is complicated and those that benefit from maintaining the status quo are skilled at obfuscation. We need to understand who benefits from our ‘broken system’ and stands in the way of progress and improvement. Our strength then comes from our collective ideas and resources.

Become an informed citizen
Get organized

The time to organize is right now. We need millions of engaged voters from across the political spectrum armed with the facts to make informed choices. The larger and more inclusive our member base gets, the more effective a force we become. We’ll get better ideas, have more thoughtful communication and make better decisions together than any of us could make on our own.

When you join We The People, the battles we’ll fight together will be of the people, by the people and most importantly, for the people.

Our two-party system, by its very design, divides us. When social media platforms and news organizations exploit this, they paint us into blue and red corners. When insults and misinformation about ‘the other side,’ replace meaningful dialog, we lose the power of a common voice.  A country divided in this way feeds our sense of hopelessness.

We The People was formed to find a better way to build consensus and effect change. We’ll harness the collective wisdom of our members to find the right answers. We’ll demand that bad public policy that benefits only the few be changed to good public policy that benefits the many.  We’ll need to overcome the powerful special interests who oppose our collective will. To accomplish this, all we need is you.

Policy over party is the path to progress
All we need is you

Our two-party system, by its very design, divides us. When social media platforms and news organizations exploit this divide, paint us into blue and red corners, and incite us to spew insults and misinformation about ‘the other side’, meaningful dialog between us disappears. We get to a point where we can no longer understand how any clear-thinking person could or would be a part of the ‘other side’ no matter which side we are on. This view of a country divided feeds our sense of hopelessness and complacency.

We The People was formed to find a better way to build consensus and effect change. We’ll harness the collective wisdom of our members to find the right answers to fix this system. We’ll demand that bad public policy that benefits only the few be changed to good public policy that benefits the many.  We’ll need to overcome the powerful special interests who spend their time and money opposing the best interests of the American people. To accomplish that, all we need is you.
